Summer in City

Summer in City (Lito u Gradu) is the main cultural event in Makarska, running from mid-June to early September. It includes a number of great events – music and theatre performances (traditional and modern), exhibitions, and many more. Maestrale

Maestrale is a new cultural event in Makarska that revives the rich history of the city through tradition, culture, art, and tourism. It is a place of meeting and connecting local people, tourists, and passers-by. It is an opportunity to discover Makarska through its hidden alleys, local masters, creative artists, and modern art installations, it brings a breath of original cultural refreshment to the city. Through summertime, its concept enriches the tourist offer of the city through three parts Maestrale:

  • DETOUR offers tourists a new experience of Makarska, with guided tours in costumes through the old town center, and the experience of the city with storytelling complemented by performances of local choirs, folk groups, and poetry readings.
  • COOLTOUR offers music and artistic performances in attractive and hidden locations of the city – squares and courtyards of the old town center – in an authentic Dalmatian atmosphere.
  • ARTE brings exhibitions of art installations by renowned young artists from Croatia, which change monthly from July to September.

The Maestrale project is part of the “Lito u gradu” program of events, and its main goal is to offer a special experience of the city by reviving its cultural heritage and the charm of Dalmatian alleys in an interactive way and to stimulate the feeling of ease of living characteristic of the Mediterranean climate to which Makarska belongs.

Makarska Jazz Festival

If you are a fan of jazz music, you should not miss the Makarska Jazz Festival! It is a multi-day event in late August that attracts Croatian and international jazz artists. The festival offers 5 days of live music featuring jazz legends and rising stars, as well as workshops and sessions. The festival takes place in various locations in Makarska, such as the main square, the waterfront, and the park. kULTRA

kULTRA is the first music festival in Makarska that brings together all generations of artistic spirit in one place. It consists of evening concerts of chamber ensembles, soloists, symphony orchestra at attractive locations in Makarska – in the cathedral of St. Mark and the Monument of the Revolution on Glavica. The festival content also includes daily educational workshops which connects children of all ages in Makarska with attractive musical content.
