THREE AROMATIC PLANTS FROM OUR GARDEN
THREE AROMATIC PLANTS FROM OUR GARDEN
Here at Villa M we are dedicated to provide you authentic experience of Dalmatian flora. The small garden consists of combination of flowers and herbs, and we present you three herbs that are typical in Dalmatia.
ROSEMARY
Rosemary is an aromatic plant that attracts attention for its antioxidant and digestive properties. In the kitchen, rosemary does not go unnoticed because of its intense smell. It combines brilliantly with meat, especially lamb, salads and boiled potatoes. You can pick small branch and use it with grilled meat or fish. For barbeque skewers, cut long sturdy branches and thread food on them.
LAVENDER
A rounded, bushy, and mini-shrub-like herb with narrow, aromatic grayish-green leaves is a medicinal plant. It was the Romans who made it a perfume for bathing and laundry.
It is only in the Middle Ages that one sees appearing the term lavender of the Latin “lavare” which means to wash; it has long been believed that bad smells spread diseases. Even the smallest branch of lavander will protect you from the mosquitoes. Spikes of purple flowers bloom in summer. You can put in the vase, it’s will look beautiful and it will be very useful!
MINT
Mint is a tasty, versatile herb that can spice up a fruit salad, lamb or fish dish, or even a glass of iced tea or a cocktail. So if you are asking us, we are voting for the cocktail! Here are the few ideas: https://www.cosmopolitan.com/food-cocktails/g26445855/mint-cocktails/
